Terms

Polaris is in private beta. These terms are short on purpose.

What Polaris is

A personal tool for journalling, setting direction and thinking things through. It is made by one person, it is unfinished, and you are using it early.

Your account

Polaris is invite-only. An invite is meant for the person it was sent to โ€” please do not pass the link on. Keep your password to yourself, and tell the person who runs Polaris if you think somebody else has got into your account.

What you write is yours

Your Journal, your conversations and everything else you put into Polaris belong to you. Using Polaris gives nobody any ownership of them, and they are not used to build or improve anything for anyone else.

Reflect is not advice

Polaris will offer perspectives, suggestions and observations, some of them in the voice of a named thinker. All of it is generated by software. It is not therapy, not medical advice, not legal or financial advice, and it is sometimes simply wrong. Treat it as something to think with, not something to act on unexamined โ€” and for anything that matters to your health, money or safety, talk to a person qualified to help.

Fair use

Please do not use Polaris to break the law, to harass anybody, or to try to reach other people's accounts or the systems behind it. Accounts doing any of that will be closed.

What is not promised

This is a beta: it may be unavailable, it may lose data, and features may change or disappear. Keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. Polaris is provided as it is, without warranty, and its author is not liable for losses arising from using it.

Ending it

You can stop using Polaris whenever you like, and ask for your account and its contents to be deleted โ€” see Privacy for how that works today. Polaris may close an account that is breaking these terms, and the private beta itself may end.

Changes

These terms will change as Polaris does. Anything significant will be said directly rather than quietly edited in.
